The Court Services Section is a part
of the Sheriff's Office's Enforcement Division. It is
comprised of one Captain, one Lieutenant, two Sergeants, several Deputies,
a Service Clerk, and over eighty Sheriff's Court Security
Officer's and Bailiffs. The Court Services Section
provides Deputy Sheriff's to staff 15 full-time courtrooms
including Superior Courts, State Courts, Magistrate Courts
and Juvenile Courts in both the Harold Banke
Justice Complex and at the Courthouse Annex III. Court
Services also mans a security post at the Harold Banke
Justice Complex. In addition, Court Services
provides Deputies for Probate Court, four Municipal Courts and
several additional courtrooms for special sessions. |

The Court Services Section also moves
in-custody inmates to and from the various courts as needed
and transports juvenile offenders from the Regional Youth
Detention Center (R. Y. D. C.) to both the Juvenile Courts
and the Superior Courts. Selected Sheriff's Court
Security Officers operate the court holding cells adjacent
to the courtrooms where inmates are held prior to entering
the appropriate courtroom for trial. The Court
Security Officers also operate the Central Control Room
touch screen computer which controls the inmate elevators,
holding cells, intercoms and duress alarms. This Court
Security Officer also monitors various alarms throughout the
courthouse complex such as stairwell access and fire alarms. |
