The Clayton County Sheriff's Office's Records Section is a busy place. Yearly, it will process approximately 30,000 records. It fingerprints about 273 people for Concealed Weapons Licenses and Employment Backgrounds. It fingerprints about 48 registered Sex Offenders and conducts about 279 Criminal History checks.
Additionally, the Records Section is responsible for maintaining files of individuals who were arrested within Clayton County and ensuring the accuracy of those records. Records also provides criminal history information and photographic line-ups to other law enforcement agencies to help with ongoing investigations. All incident reports for the Sheriff's Office are maintained by the Records Section as well.
All of Clayton County's registered sex offenders are fingerprinted and photographed by the Records Section for the Special Victims and Sex Offender Registration and Tracking Units.
The Records Section is open Monday through Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. For procedures that are time consuming, such as fingerprinting, please arrive no later than 4:30 p.m. If you have any questions regarding the Records Section please feel free to call 770-477-4404.
