Field Operations Section

The Field Operations Section consists of the Warrant Office, Civil, Transportation, Blackhawk (Traffic Unit), K-9 Unit, Tactical Patrol and Cobra. Cvil SectionThe Civil Section is responsible for serving all civil papers from any court that requires service within Clayton County and for the lawful execution of every eviction proceeding within the county. For more information on the Civil Section, please click here


Cobra Unit

Targetting High Crime AreasEstablished in January 2013, the primary focus of the Cobra Unit is to target high crime, drug, and prostitution areas. The seven man unit has made over 2,000 arrests since it's creation, the majority of which have been for drugs and prostitution.

The Cobra Unit also conducts knock-and-talks (KAT's) in reference to neighborhood drug complaints and unusual activities. A recent KAT produced a felony arrest and a seizure of crack cocaine.

Community PatrolsThe unit patrols high risk areas focusing on suspicious activity. These areas are identified based on county 911 statistics.  By already being in high risk areas, the units are close by to assisist with priority calls from other agencies and conduct Road Safety Checks.

These "high risk" areas consist of:

--High Burglary and Armed Robbery Calls.

--Complaints of Illegal Drug Activities.

--Complaints of Unusual Activities. 



K-9 Unit

Fighting Crime One Bite at a Time

The K-9 Unit is a full service, dual purpose unit trained in narcotic detection, Bomb detection and patrol. We have units assigned to the Jail Operations Division, VIPER Unit, Special Operations, and Tactical Patrol Units. The K-9 Units also assists other units of the Sheriff's Office as well as surrounding cities, counties, and federal agencies with drug searches and locating and apprehending suspects who run or attempt to hide. Clayton County Sheriff's Office is the first law enforcement agency with in Clayton County to have a Bloodhound program. K-9 Tracker (Bloodhound) is used to fight crime by locating criminals as well as searching for missing children or elderly adults who may have wandered away from their love ones. K-9 teams respond to assist, seven days a week, 24 hours a day to meet the Sheriff's needs. K-9 teams also assist with emergency calls for service including "officer needs help", "assistance" or "back-up" calls. The K-9 Unit currently consists of German Shepherds, Belgium Malinois, and Dutch Shepherds, and a Blood Hound. Each K-9 Team is nationally certified.

Black Hawk

Blackhawk was formed in 2020 By Sheriff V Hill to reduce the amount of traffic related incidents in Clayton County

Their primary focus is to combat DUI, speeding, combat aggressive drivers and educate distracted drivers throughout Clayton County
