Accounting Section

The primary function of the Clayton County Sheriff's Office's Accounting Section is to maintain the inmate's account while they are in our custody and distribute remaining funds to the inmate upon release.

Services provided to the inmates may include, but are not limited to, processing payments for Commissary orders, medical and/or dental services, Cash in Lieu of Property Bonds, Municipal Bonds, Court Ordered payments (i.e. child support and contempt of court) and court fines.

Depositing Funds Into an Inmate's AccountThe Accounting Section accepts funds to be placed on an inmate's account. Funds may be placed on an inmate's account through services provided by NCIC Inmate Communications (http://www.ncicdeposits.com).

NCIC provides two methods of depositing funds into an inmate account: online and at on-site kiosks at the jail. Each transaction posts to the inmate's account as soon as the transaction is finalized. Alternatively, the Accounting Section will accept money orders through the mail. Please see each section below for more details. NCIC charges transaction and credit card fees based on the type and amount of the transaction. Please pay attention to fees that are listed. The Sheriff's Office is not responsible for associated fees charged through NCIC.

 

Depositing Funds OnlineOnline deposits can be made from anywhere internet access is available. The site does not require a user to create an account or answer invasive questions, but does require a valid major credit card. Fees will be taken from the total amount deposited. According to NCIC, their site currently takes Visa, Master Card, American Express, and Discover cards. To leave a deposit on an inmate's account follow the following steps:

- Go to NCIC's Website at http://www.ncicdeposits.com

- Click on the type of deposit you would like to make. Choose either "Commissary" or "Bonding" deposit buttons.

- Click on the first letter of the inmate's last name.

- A list of current inmates will appear alphabetically by the last name of the letter you selected. Find the inmate's name and select it. A confirmation box will appear with the inmate's name and ID number you selected. If it is correct, click "Continue."

- Enter the billing information for the person/card providing payment. Each field is required. Deposit information, such as fees and maximum deposit amounts, are listed at the bottom of the screen. When complete, select "Continue."

 

Depositing Funds by KiosksNCIC's kiosks are located at the Public Entrance of the Sheriff's Office. The kiosks accept cash and major credit cards. Kiosks DO NOT give change and they DO NOT accept coins. If a large bill is inserted, the kiosk will deposit the total amount of that bill. The Accounting Section is not available to break large bills and distribute change. The user of the kiosk may have a receipt printed or sent via text message. Fees will be taken from the total amount deposited.

 

Depositing Funds by Money OrderInmates may have funds deposited from money orders that are mailed to the Accounting Section. However, money orders WILL NOT be accepted in person and must be verified prior to deposit. Depositing money orders by mail may take several days to be delivered and processed. Money orders must have the Inmate's Name and LE Number to be processed. LE Numbers may be obtained directly from the inmate. The total amount of the money order will be deposited into the inmate's account.

Reimbursement of FundsThe Clayton County Sheriff's Office will reimburse the funds remaining on an inmate's account only to the inmate. Inmate accounts with $25.00 or less will be reimbursed in cash. Inmate accounts with $25.01 or more will be reimbursed on a debit card. Debit cards will be assessed a non-refundable activation fee of $4.95. The card may take up to two hours to be funded and ready for use. For any issues concerning the card, activation, or to report a lost or stolen card, please contact Rapid Release Pay customer service at 1-877-592-1118.  Inmates transferring to other facilities will continue to receive a check.

Once funds are deposited to an inmate's account, the funds belong to the inmate. Please be very careful when entering currency amounts and inmate information into the system and check for accuracy prior to submitting the funds. Fees are calculated and charged by NCIC. If you do not agree with the amount of the fee you will need to cancel the transaction before it is submitted. The Clayton County Sheriff's Office cannot assist with technical problems arising from the use of the NCIC website, software, or on-site kiosks.
